Ifm and the Schuler Group have now agreed to work together to monitor and improve quality in press shops through digitalization. The aim is to offer customers greater transparency and increase efficiency in sheet metal forming. Presses for sheet metal forming are among the most important machines in all industries in which sheet metal is processed. Schuler has over 180 years of experience in forming technology. With digital solutions such as Track and Trace, Visual Die Protection or Digi-Sim, the company has a wide range of tools in use that support digitalization in the press shop.

Ifm software tool analyzes tilting moment on forming presses

With Smartstamp from Ifm, this range is now being expanded to include a software tool. Within milliseconds, it detects tilting and eccentricity as well as the resulting tilting moment on forming presses. “If the ram is tilted too far, the press guides are subjected to excessive strain and will be damaged in the long term,” says Christoph Schneider, Vice President Product Management Applications at Ifm. The tool thus protects the press from excessive wear and damage. This contributes to higher availability. Smartstamp is seamlessly integrated into the Moneo IIoT platform. In addition, it is now also being integrated into the Metris platform from Andritz, Schuler's parent company. “Thanks to combination with the data from our cloud-based Digital Solutions, customers benefit from interoperability and consequently even higher transparency in the press shop,” emphasizes Rohitashwa Pant, Chief Digital Officer of the Schuler Group.

Ifm and Schuler are cooperating in sales

The cooperation agreement that has now been signed provides for collaboration in sales. Customers benefit from the use of Smartstamp from Ifm and the digital solutions from Schuler. For companies just starting out with digitalization, it doesn't matter which system they start with. They can expand the digitalization solution with the other system at any time. ““In this way we can offer all customers the optimum solution for press shop digitalization,” says Florian Siebert, Senior Manager Systems and IIoT at Ifm, in conclusion.
