As the leading global trade fair, Anuga Foodtec in Cologne from February 23 to 26, 2027 is the most important source of inspiration for the international food and beverage industry. It is the only supplier trade fair in the world to cover all aspects of food production. This is where the industry presents its product innovations and technological visions: from process technology to filling and packaging technology to food safety, from packaging materials to digitalization and intralogistics.

Anuga Foodtec 2027 is divided into eight segments: Processing, Filling and Packaging, Digitalization, Automation, Intralogistics, Safety and Analytics, Environment and Energy, and Science and Pioneering.

  • Processing: Avoiding unplanned downtime, identifying problems, analyzing data: The food and beverage industry faces major challenges. Systems must be efficient, reliable and intelligent while meeting the requirements of hygienic design. The exhibitors offer technological solutions for further development in food production for new competitive advantages.
  • Filling and packaging: Efficient and economical filling and packaging processes require a high degree of automation, while at the same time placing high demands on the functional safety of machines and systems. At the same time, consumers are demanding sustainable, intelligent packaging solutions. For manufacturers, the aim is to harmonize safety, automation and cost-effectiveness.
  • Digitalization: The food industry is characterized by high cost sensitivity and mass production, while innovative packaging and a growing variety of flavours as well as rising consumer expectations are increasingly defining the market. Digitalization offers the industry new opportunities to meet these requirements and customer wishes and to individualize products. Digital technologies enable optimized processes and greater product efficiency along the entire value chain. Processes and workflows can be optimally coordinated. This creates consistently high product quality, greater sustainability and more flexible work organization.
  • Automation: increase yield, raise productivity, minimize safety risks, optimize resource management, improve machine and system utilization: Manufacturers have to regulate and control more and more complex processes in parallel, with ever shorter product cycles and an increasing number of variants. With innovative automation systems, flexible robots or intelligent image processing systems, maximum efficiency, flexibility and cost-effectiveness can be achieved and all requirements covered. New technologies save time and free employees from repetitive tasks, time can be invested in higher-value activities and competitiveness is increased.
  • Intralogistics: Productivity requirements in the industry are constantly increasing. A growing variety of products and ever new packaging are challenging intralogistics in companies. Intelligent, flexible and scalable solutions are required to optimize internal material flows, from procurement through production to delivery. Handling must be economical. In-house conveyor and transport systems and storage facilities need to be made fit for the future. Digitalization, the networking of man and machine, artificial intelligence and big data offer completely new possibilities for optimizing logistics processes in companies and increasing productivity and added value as part of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things.
  • Safety and analytics: Food safety is one of the most urgent tasks of consumer protection. Food authenticity is becoming increasingly important. Food safety is one of the most important topics in the food industry in order to minimize risks. Increasingly improved analytical methods with a high degree of automation facilitate the analysis of numerous parameters in the highest quality. Starting with chemical-physical procedures and sensory tests through to microbiological examinations.
  • Environment and energy: The food industry is one of the largest industrial energy consumers. Due to the energy-intensive production processes, energy costs in the industry are a significant factor in the cost of the end product. Whether electricity, process heat, heating and district heating, cooling or compressed air: the supply must be accompanied by maximum security of supply in order to ensure the high quality standards of the industry. At the same time, food and beverage manufacturers are increasingly focusing on their own carbon footprint. Operational environmental protection has also become an integral part of companies in the food industry.
  • Science and pioneering work: business meets science. Research and development, product and process innovations create competitive advantages for the food industry. Visionaries and technology experts present and discuss research contributions and scientific work, new technological approaches, innovative solutions and provide first-hand expertise. Whether research facilities, universities, institutes, pioneers or start-ups: they are all already providing ideas, specialist knowledge, forecasts and innovations for practicable findings and applications that will change the food industry tomorrow. Researchers, developers, technologists and investors come together to network in the cross-industry research and technology area at Anuga Foodtec.
